Femtosecond laser fragmentation of a nucleus is usually incomplete because of a variable safety margin from the posterior capsule that the surgeon chooses.  This leads to inconsistent and incomplete separation of nuclear segments. The use of this new prechopper to complete the segment separation is logical and safer.
