Narrative Responses:

Purpose
To compare dry eye in 3 groups of patients: 1-Herpetic intrestitial stromal keratitis and their fellow eyes; 2-  Nonherpetic neurotrophic ulcer and their fellow eyes;  3- Age- and sex-matched healthy control eyes.

Methods
We evaluated dry eye in each group using dry eye severity scheme proposed by dry eye workshop plus tear osmolarity to evaluate patients for dry eye.

Results
56 patients with herpetic interstitial keratitis, 56 healthy controls, and 29 patients with neurotrophic ulcer entered the study. Dry eye severity of involved eye was more significant in neurotrophic ulcer group followed by herpetic and control group. Fellow eyes of herpetic and neurotrophic group had significantly higher values in some measures of dry eye compared to control group.

Conclusion
Both eyes of patients with neurotrophic ulcer and interstitial herpetic keratitis have dry eye and may need treatment.
