Phacoemulsification in traumatic cataracts can be challenging, but advanced phaco machines with fluidic parameters, newer surgical techniques and devices (OVDs, CTRs) and IOLs augment the chances of a good outcome. An understanding of the nature and extent of the damage and careful planning prior to surgery are imperative to the proper management of these challenging cases of traumatic cataract.
