Conjunctivochalasis interferes with the tear meniscus and may mimic or aggravate dry eye. Degradation of the Tenon capsule is considered an underlying cause. Simple excision may temporarily relieve symptoms; however, it may induce scarring and shortening of the fornix. Tenon reinforcement with amniotic membrane is a more effective alternative procedure.
