New PRK applications can be used to deliver excellent visual acuity to patients with anterior corneal scars. Superficial corneal scars caused by dystrophies, infections, or surgery can be successfully treated using refraction-based shape implications. In cases with best-corrected potential acuity of 20/30 or better, outcomes of 20/20 are possible without more invasive surgeries.
