Femtosecond Cataract Surgery in Patients With Small Pupils: Safety and Efficacy

Purpose
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of femtosecond laser cataract surgery with the LensAR platform (Orlando, FL) in patients with smaller intraoperative pupil sizes.

Methods
Retrospective chart review of 32 consecutive patients with small pupils (less than 6 mm) undergoing femtosecond laser cataract surgery .

Results
No complications were reported in any patient. Mean pupil size was 5.2 mm (SD  ± .24; range 4.7-5.5). Mean follow-up time was 3.4 months (SD ± 3.4).

Conclusion
Laser-assisted femtosecond cataract surgery was safe and effective in this patient cohort with small pupils.
