High-resolution images were obtained using the infrared-sensitive camera under mesopic and photopic conditions and pupil diameters were analyzed preoperatively and one and three months after cataract surgery. Pachymetry, magnitude of the corneal surgically induced astigmatism, axial length and anterior chamber depth were obtained using anterior Scheimpflug imagery and optical biometry. The obtained parameters were analyzed and compared preoperatively and one and three months postoperatively.

Results
The mean preoperative and three months postoperative mesopic pupil’s diameters were 4.7 ± 0.8 mm and 4.4 ± 0.7 mm, respectively. The mean preoperative and three months postoperative photopic pupil diameters were 3.3 ± 0.6 mm and 3.1 ± 0.5 mm, respectively. The mean preoperative, one month and three months postoperative anterior chamber depths were of 3.1 ± 0.4 mm, 4.4 ± 0.5 mm and 4.6 ± 0.4 mm respectively. The mean preoperative, one month and three months postoperative axial lengths were of 23.99 ± 1.34 mm, 23.93 ± 1.34 mm and 23.91 ± 1.34 mm respectively. These differences were all significative (paired t test, P <0.05).

Conclusion
The mesopic and photopic mean pupil diameters decrease three months after cataract surgery in myopic and hyperopic eyes, while the anterior chamber depth increases and the axial length decreases. These results could have implications in IOL design and power calculation.
","VideoFormat":"0","ConfirmationEmailSent":"1","Withdrawn":"","VirtualAttendeeEnabled":"","ParentList_Day":["Day/2018-04-16"],"Picky":"","TopDisplay":"Damien Gatinel, PhD, MD; Imene Salah, MSc, PhD; Alain Saad, MD","NoSubjectsSelected":"0","TransactionMethod":"0","id":"42666","EntryCitation_apa":"\nGatinel, D. (2018) Exploring Pupil Dynamics and Biometry in Eyes Having Cataract Surgery [Paper]. 2018 ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting, Washington, DC. https://ascrs.confex.com/ascrs/18am/meetingapp.cgi/Paper/42666 \n","ChildList_Role":["Role/67132","Role/67133","Role/67134"],"OfficeVersion":"0","LateSubmission":"0","_expiration":"2026-08-22T14:07:38","CancellationNote":"","ProofedDate":"2017-09-19 17:34:55","TransactionSignature":"","ChildList_FieldIndice":["Index/CB_Category~5112","Index/ProgramDay~0 2018-04-16"],"FirstNoticeSent":"1","HideAbstractImages":"0","SubmitterFullName":"Gatinel","Mgroup":"","CustomFee":"0.00","Avail_CreateRecording":0,"PreviouslyPublished":"","ContactPermission":"","usingARS":0,"ChildList_VendorFiles":[],"KeywordSearchString":" Biometry Cataract Pupillometry","ReadyForReview":"","Step":"4","_name":"Paper","ChildList_Person":["Person/626","Person/1876","Person/5853"],"ParentList_ParentEntries":["Session/6706","Program/1121"],"Student":"","Session_GoodType":"Oral","Avail_OnDemand_ePoster":0,"label":"Paper","PreviouslyPublishedDetail":"","MeetingTitle":"2018 ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting","WithdrawComments":"","_url":"Paper/42666","AdvisorEmail":"","MAttachData":{}}
