The calcification of hydrophilic IOLs occurs only rarely. Video demonstrates the effort that is made to analyze these IOLs in the laboratory. Various methods for IOL evaluation (eg, light microscopy of stained samples, scanning electron microscopy and x-ray spectroscopy) are explained.
