In cataract surgery with venturi pumps, pressure and flow volume cannot be set separately.  If pressure is high enough to capture nuclei, flow volume may be excessive.  Still, venturi pumps offer stable aspiration and are simple and more affordable than peristaltic pumps.  Video shows a way to control flow volume more effectively, allowing venturi pumps to be used more widely worldwide.
