F102 Did Sushruta Practice Couching or Extracapsular Cataract Extraction?

It is generally accepted that Jacques Daviel introduced (18th century) extracapsular cataract extraction. However, it was recently suggested that Sushruta proposed it in the 6th century BC. Present study verifies this controversy. Video discusses evidence that some sort of extraocular expulsion of lens material through a limbal puncture (paracentesis) was described by the Indian surgeon.
