Narrative Responses:

Purpose
To evaluate femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery in patients with narrow angles.

Methods
Patients with cataracts and anatomical narrow angles were treated with a femtosecond laser to create the anterior capsule opening , fragment the lens, create clear corneal incisions, and relaxing incisions if necessary.  Following femtosecond laser treatment, the patients underwent standard cataract surgery.

Results
Patients with anatomical narrow angles have a decreased working space in the eye.  The femtosecond laser has already chopped the nucleus, therefore making it easier for the surgeon to remove the lens.  The femtosecond laser also helps decrease the likelihood of radial extension during the capsulorhexis in nanophthalmic eyes.

Conclusion
Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery facilitates an easier procedure in the narrow angle cataract patient.
