Narrative Responses:

Purpose
Efficacy and safety of Femtosecond laser for cataract surgery has been questioned Assuming that the Femto second laser will not be able to penetrate the opaque lens matter. This study endeavors to answer this question.

Methods
Over a period of two years six cases of white cataracts were operated by Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery. The patients were selected on the basis of their desire to undergo the procedure. The efficacy of Femtosecond laser in performing the two steps of capsulotomy and neucleotomy was assessed and is reported.

Results
In one eye the capsuleotomyotomy reminded incomplete and in the same case the nucleotomy was also incomplete. However the capsulotomy was completed manually and so was nucleus management with phacoemulsification.

In one case with inumescent cataract, the capsulotomy was complete and did not extend due to closed chamber.

Conclusion
Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery is a efficient way to manage mature white cataracts and reduces the incidence of complications in such cases.
