Narrative Responses:

Purpose
Comparison of the visual performance and optical quality between intraocular lenses  ZMA00 and SN6AD1 multifocal intraocular lenses (IOL).

Methods
Prospective comparative study included 68 eyes of 34 patients. The performed ophthalmologic evaluation included near, intermediate and distance corrected and uncorrected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity measurement, wavefront analysis with the itrace aberrometrer, defocus curve and visual satisfaction questionnaire (TYPE).

Results
Uncorrected distance visual acuity and contrast sensitivity under photopic and mesopic conditions were similar with both intraocular lenses; nevertheless, near visual acuity and coma were statistically better with Tecnis®  ZMA00 and  uncorrected intermediary visual acuity was better with Restor®  SN6AD1, viewed by Defocus Curve.

Conclusion
Both studied intraocular lenses promoted excellent near, intermediary and distance postoperative visual acuity. Comparing, Tecnis ZMA00 IOL provided better uncorrected near vision and Restor SN6AD1 better intermediary vision. However, these factors do not affect the degree of patient satisfaction when comparing the two multifocal IOLs.
