Video describes a technique to quantitatively evaluate and compare the red reflex intensity and range from a patient's eye using a nearly-collimated beam or focused beam illumination source found on ophthalmic microscopes used for cataract surgery. A new application of video-imaging programs allowing measureable analyses of viewing quality is shown.
