CBS is a rare complication of phacoemulsification cataract surgery that can occur during or after surgery. The treatment strategies for CBS include surgical revision with aspiration of the cortical masses and the fluid, and anterior capsulotomy using the neodymium:YAG laser. In rare cases these treatments can be ineffective, being necessary an alternative one as pars plana vitrectomy.
