Purpose
Based on clinical experience with and theoretical analysis of ND a novel intraocular lens (IOL) was conceived and designed to prevent or reduce ND symptoms.  The purpose of the investigation is to review the design concept and the initial clinical results with the IOL.

Methods
Prospective investigation of an anti-dysphotopic IOL.

Results
To date 12 patients in two European sites (6 each) have received the IOL.  No case has resulted in ND and there have been no IOL related untoward events of surgery.

Conclusion
Preliminary clinical results with an IOL designed to prevent ND appear favorable  Additional patient implants will be performed and are necessary to confirm the initial positive impression.
