Purpose
To compare the visual and quality results and optical performance between 2 intraocular (IOLs) multifocal lenses, Tecnis one piece model ZMB00 and AT Lisa one-piece model 366D. Setting: Hospital Oftalmologico de Brasilia (HOB) and Centro de Estudos de Oftalmologia Renato Ambrósio (CEORA), Brasilia-DF, Brazil.

Methods
Prospective nonrandomized evaluation of 120 eyes in 30 patients implanted with Tecnis one piece model ZMB00 and 30 patients implanted with AT Lisa one-piece model 366D. Exclusion criteria were preoperative corneal astigmatism more than 1.00 diopter and presence of any other ocular diseases, ocular surgery, axial myopia, systemic disease. Intraoperative complications, doubts of in the capsular bag implantation and decentralization greater than 0.5 mm from the visual axis were another criteria for exclusion. The postoperative evaluation included measurement of corrected and uncorrected visual acuity for distance far, intermediate and near; contrast sensitivity and defocus curvevisual acuity; wavefront analysis; reading ability and the degree of patient satisfaction.

Results
The study is in the final stage. The preliminary results indicate that both lenses are promoting excellent refractive results for far distance. However, AT Lisa model 366D is showing best near vision, but the final data will show whether there is a statistical difference.

Conclusion
The study is in the final stage. Maybe the difference in results is attributed to the difference of near addition and suggests that the reading distance and intermediate and near vision performance are essential for choose the best lenses.
