We describe a novel technique of Boston type 1 KPro  implantation assisted with amniotic membrane. 5 eyes underwent implantation with amniotic membrane creating a "sandwich" between the front plate and the donor cornea providing an epithelization scaffold. A decreased incidence of tissue melting and KPro extrusion could be a benefit due to the mechanical closing of the gap between the optical stem and the donor cornea decreasing the rate of the keratitis and endophthalmitis.
